Welcome to the Catholic Center at UWG, an intellectual and spiritual home for students, faculty, staff and the community of West Georgia! We invite you to encounter Christ, grow in faith and be a witness to your faith on campus and beyond. No matter where you are in your faith journey, the Catholic Center has a place for you!
Norma Rothschadl, the first ever Director of Campus Ministry at the St. John Henry Newman Catholic Center, has decided to leave her position as director to spend more time with family. Norma was hired in 2019 to help grow campus ministry at the University of West Georgia and to bring a Newman Center to the campus. Norma launched a development campaign that included several successful #iGIVECATHOLIC campaigns and the "Time to Build" Gala. In the fall of 2020, the doors to the CCUWG opened and shortly thereafter, a dedication ceremony was presided over by Archbishop Gregory J. Hartmayer.
In it's first year of existence, the center saw substantial growth. The center offered students many opportunities for spiritual growth including retreats, bible studies, guest lectures and much more. The center also provided students service opportunities including the Senior Food Pantry, collaborations with the Pregnancy Resource Center and a successful blood drive. In that time, the center was also awarded 5 grants to fund additional programming and purchase needed items for the center. Norma has certainly left a firm foundation for the next director to build upon. We are so very grateful for her commitment and passion for the center and the students! May God bless her future endeavors!
