Fr. Gaurav Shroff was born in New Delhi, India, the younger of two sons, into an upper caste Hindu family. His early childhood was spent in suburban Washington DC, when his father was working for the World Bank. The family returned to India several years later, and he spent his teenage years in Bombay (now Mumbai). A powerful encounter with the Lord in his late teens led him to the Catholic Church. He was baptized at the age of 21, just before returning to the United States for further studies. After several years of saying “no” to the Lord’s call to the priesthood, his path led him to Atlanta. He attended Mount St. Mary’s Seminary in Emmitsburg, MD, and was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Atlanta on June 8, 2013. He has served as Parochial Vicar at St. Joseph in Athens, St. Andrew in Roswell, and as Parochial Administrator of St. Francis of Assisi in Blairsville, GA. He is currently finishing a sabbatical to attend to personal family matters and was appointed as Parochial Administrator of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Carrolton, GA effective July 1. He is also pursuing studies for a Licentiate in Canon Law through the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium.
