Fr. James Akpan was ordained for the Diocese of Ikot Ekpene, Nigeria on July 2, 2011. After about three years of parish and hospital ministries in his home diocese, he came to the U.S. He served at St. Frances Cabrini Church, Coram in the Diocese of Rockville Centre, New York from 2014-2019. While in New York, he earned his Master's Degree in Theology from St. John's University, Queens and was also certified in Mental Health First Aid. In the Fall of 2019, Fr. James made his way to the University of West Georgia to pursue his PhD in Psychology. He assists at the local parish, Our Lady of Perpetual Help and acts as a Chaplain and Spiritual Director for the Catholic Center at UWG. He is beloved by the students and is perhaps the greatest supporter for our proposed new Catholic Center.
